...almost 7!

i'm just sitting here thinking to myself, i am a mom to an almost 7 YEAR old. how can that be? i plan on writing a whole entry on just Haylee and maybe putting together a slide show with pictures. and this weekend i have all intentions of doing her 7 year pictures {i will be doing them, of course!}. but i just needed to talk about it a little, lol.

i think each year just gets more bittersweet for me! this year is a little different feeling for me too. i feel like she is just growing up super fast. i can feel her slipping through my fingers and it scares me. she is such a family girl though, so any time we have together she is snuggling me, which i love. i'm amazed at the little person she is becoming. some things we need to work on, but for the most part Haylee is a loving, caring and giving child. she wants to help everyone. last year in the 1st grade she tried to help this little girl {who ended up in a special needs class, mid-year} with all of her work. she wouldn't do it for her, but she would help her. i remember her teacher thinking that was so sweet. she has the biggest heart. she's a softie though too, which she has to be careful of because people take advantage of her kindness.

when i think back on this year she has accomplished SO much. when they're babies and even toddlers you can't really envision them being able to read, write, share with friends, hold a full on conversation...but she's a little adult! almost 7! she told me when she turned 5 that when she turned 7 she would know EVERYTHING. :) ahh...kids are so funny.

yes, this year is a year of accomplishments for sure! this year Haylee has lost 8 teeth {i know some kids her age just losing their 1st or only a few...}. she has learned how to read and reads constantly. she learned addition, subtraction, how to measure, how to count money, how to tell time, the months of the year - how to fully read a calendar {she's counting down the days til her birthday}. this year she accepted Jesus into her heart {this is the biggest accomplishment and it fills my eyes with tears just thinking about it....i can't quite recall the exact day, sometime in May on a Sunday morning we were sitting in the Starbucks parking lot while Tim ran in for our coffee and we prayed together. she completely understood!}. this year she taught herself how to swim. so many more things come to mind....it's been a huge year for Haylee.

i stand amazed at how fast kids grow up. you hear it all the time, but until you have one {or a few} of your own, you don't really grasp it. i'm sad that my 'baby' is gone, but so excited about the little person she is becoming. i'm so glad to be a part of her life. she is my life.

I know how you feel. They change so much by 7 and you look by and wonder where it went. She is such a great kid from reading what you write about her. You and Tim are truly blessed. Hope she enjoys her upcoming birthday!
