we are for eachother: then laugh, leaning back in my arms for life's not a paragraph. --ee cummings

If there's one thing I love...

...it's music and tomorrow I'm going to be surrounded by it all day long. Tim, his sister Michelle (she just graduated high school and is leaving for the Air Force in a couple of days) and I are taking off and going to beautiful San Diego for a day (and night) concert.

We will be seeing a concert called Projekt Revolution (it's mostly alternative music in case ya don't know). There are a lot of different bands and I don't know MOST of them - - LOL - - but I do know Linkin Park & My Chemical Romance. I like them both a lot. I know almost every song (except the older MCR cd) - but Linkin Park, I love & have every cd. (Sadly), Haylee used to fall asleep to Linkin Park and that is the only cd that would CALM her as a baby. Now isn't that strange (if you know Linkin Park, you know what I mean). Although, their newest cd - which got abducted from me (eh-hem Michelle...), has mostly softer, slower songs on it. I love it.

Did you know you're not allowed to bring your camera into concerts anymore? What is up with that? I don't quite understand why...and frankly I'm upset. I didn't believe Tim when he told me (even when he said his brother Mark told him...sorry Mark) - so I looked up the amphitheater online and sure enough. No cameras. And Kathy - I can't pull your trick because my camera is way too big, LOL! Unless I stuff some depends in my purse or something....ha!

Anyway I am brining my camera and taking before/after concert pics of us. :o)) I will probably sneak some w/my camera phone also. Yaay - - it's going to be so much fun!! Haylee will be spending the day/night with her Grammy (and cousins).

I have learned. . .

. . . Jesus speaks to us through His holy Word.
His love is so amazing and pure - when we start reading, we begin to see where these scriptures fall into our lives. He comforts us in His Word.

. . . No matter how hard we try, we cannot solve life's problems on our own.
It's utterly impossible! Thankfully with GOD - ALL things are possible.

. . . Although He is God, a Majesty and King - He give us free will to make our own choices.
He loves us SO much that He wants us to choose Him for ourself. You cannot force someone to love you, no matter how hard you try (believe me, it's true).

. . . God NEVER fails us.
He goes so far to say (in Isaiah 49) that even though your own mother may forget you, God will never forget you. People are humans and humans err, but GOD - in all His glory - NEVER fails us. He never forgets us. He loves us SO much that He cannot take His eyes off of us! How amazing is His love!

Thank you God! I was catching up on a few days of Bible reading (I am going through my Daily Walk Bible right now, or trying to...of course I get behind but I try to catch up on the weekends if I get too far behind). God really spoke to me in SOOOO many verses. I was thinking of something going on in my life and at that very moment God revealed to me a comforting verse. It is just amazing love. I hope you enjoyed reading my thoughts on what I have learned. It has taken me awhile to learn these things also & I think everyone learns them in their own time - it's not something I can teach you, but knowledge you gain through out your life experiences.

Have a wonderful Monday!
Love,
Melissa

Nice & relaxing

...weekend! We just hung out around the house and we went to the pool for a couple of hours both Saturday and Sunday. I got really bad sunburned on my shoulders (where I thought Tim had helped me put sunscreen, LOL) & the front of my legs. I guess I didn't think they would burn. Oh well!

Haylee is getting better in the pool too, so I'm really glad we've been going so often. The more we go, the more relaxed she will be in the water. She is not really liking her life jacket because it constrains her, she likes it off & she likes to hold her kick board while I'm holding her up. She will kick, but she needs to kick a little faster. :o)) I know she'll get the hang of it. Just getting her INTO the pool without her whining and clinging my neck like a choke hold is miraculous. ;o)

Today after church we went to El Torito for brunch, it was fantastic. Then we ran errands and then we looked at open houses in our area. It is about time for us to look into buying (whenever we do, it will be our FIRST home that we buy!). Homes are so pricey out here, but we actually found a few neighborhoods that are in our budget & Haylee can remain in the same school!! There is hope! :o)) I think God led us to these homes today b/c we have lived here for over 2 years and have never seen a couple of these neighborhoods. Kind of hard to miss I think. Anyway, keep us in your prayers for buying a home within the next year or two. I am really wanting a small yard & just something to call my own (although I am SO SO SO grateful for what we have now, renting from a family friend).

Tonight I'm GRILLING a pizza on the grill. I know, cool huh? I found a recipe on Kraft foods. Of course. :o) Hope you all had a great weekend!

Love
Mel

Free Stuff

I am so crazy. (ya as if you didn't know!!) I love free samples. The other day I sat online for hours and just filled out my info (my old email address and a totally FAKE phone number because, um, why do you need that? Just gimme my freebie!). Today in the mail I received a sample of Nivea after shave for men (for Tim of course, he didn't seem as thrilled as I did, but oh well.), a box of Honey Bunches of Oats - it came in this way cute little bitty box, Aqua fresh berry blast travel sized toothpaste & some Aveeno dry skin serum. Wow!!

I guess my theory is this, it seems that NOTHING in life is ever FREE. I mean, have you tried to sign up for "free samples" lately? Most of the time, for the really good stuff (like perfume & make up), you have to "participate" in some survey thing which leads into this 200 page questionaire and by the time you FINALLY get to the end of answering all of those ridiculous questions you realize....you have to sign up for A, B and C! It's so frustrating! Therefore, when I see something really FREE - - I just get so excited and HAVE to share (thus this silly blog today, which I hope makes you smile at the very least - - if you're like me you are about to pee your pants with excitement of what I'm about to tell you!).

Here are some things 100% free - - you DO however, have to put in your info (but make something up other than your name and address. Heck, even if you want to make up your name, that is OK too, they don't REALLY need to know!). Walmart (as much as I do not shop there anymore due to bad experiences) - - has an AWESOME free sample page - new every month!

Go here: Walmart Free Samples

I just signed up for these & I haven't gotten them, but I thought it was worth a try...it's free Christian stuff....

Go here: Free Christian Stuff

I know I had more websites - - but I haven't yet received anything from them as of yet. IF I do, hey...I'll be sure to blog!

Fun times to be had tonight

Well well well - tomorrow is FRIDAY everyone! And I have surprisingly have (almost) made it through the week alive. ;o) With Jesus by my side alone!! I'm speaking of work really...not my job but the girl's I took over this week while she's in Vegas. Wow, I was doing good until today! Then at the last minute (there is a deadline of Monday) - - BAM - - I was overwhelmed for the FIRST time this week. I have also put MY work on the back burner to complete her's, which is fine (my boss said so, LOL) because her's is more time sensitive.

I won't bore you with it anymore - - I just don't know how she gets it all done by herself. I have five more tasks to do FIRST thing tomorrow morning. Really, I don't want to think about it. ;o)

Tonight was fun!!!!!! One of my friends - Paola - had a birthday today. A bunch of us went out to California Pizza Kitchen to celebrate. (Tim and Angelo went to the golfing range) So it was more like a girls' night. Haylee LOVED everyone and by the end of the night was hugging everyone. She is hysterical! I know I said I wasn't going to post pics...but here are a few from tonight (from my cell phone, sorry). The glasses and hat were supposed to be for Paola to wear, but somehow Haylee assumed possession of them & they thought she was too cute NOT to have them, so now she owns these funkadellic glasses. Everyone was calling her a rock star, she loved it. Even the guy at CPK thought she was cute! Fun times!!!!!

Prayer request

Everyone must be so busy this week (the only time I get to post is EARLY in the morning or later on at night when H is asleep!). Anyway, haven't heard from much of anyone. I know why from a few of my frequent blog fans...they've just had their minds on other things or are moving into their new home (Liz!!!!). Anyway, just wanted to say that it is OK because you have a life. Don't ever feel guilty (I say this b/c I know people have apologized to me personally), seriously, this is my JOURNAL more than it is to update you on my everyday life happenings (like you care, LOL).

Anyhoo...I have a super special prayer request and I just have to keep it personal. It is for a dear sweet (new) friend of mine, I feel like she's suffering because of some recent health news she found out recently. I just really would like it if you lifted her up in prayer. Pray for comfort, pray that the doctors find absolutely nothing, pray for her family. Please please pray for her. She is such a wonderful person and has really mentored me & blessed me more than she will ever know. Thank you.

Oh and also pray for Haylee today as she will be going on a big field trip soon! I'm so nervous for her. Isn't this funny, I hope I laugh at myself later but for now I'm just a worried Mommy! Thank you.

Have a blessed day knowing that our Jesus loves us!!
XO ~ Melissa

Oh hmmmm...

Is today Monday or WHAT?!?! :o)

Well it was day 1 of me juggling a couple of jobs. The girl that does word processing (being an accounting firm we do a lot of that with financial statements, 401 (k) and engagement letters) - is on vacation all week. So they put ME in charge of doing the word processing. Which I say, is VERY brave of them (considering I am only a couple of months new to this job!). Today I actually, at one point in time, juggled THREE jobs: Executive Assistant (my real job), Word processor and Receptionist. And let me tell ya...at some points it wasn't easy! But I managed through the day & left a couple minutes after normal go-home time. I do have a head ache tonight, but that could be due to this wretched HEAT (90's and HOT).

I am very proud of myself today I drank 3 1/2 of those 7.7 fluid ounce waters (I kept refilling it at the water machine at work). I also went to the bathroom 8 times. I'm not kidding! Good thing there's a back door, the receptionist might think I was a little excessive or something!! ;o) On another note though, I'm not happy with myself because I haven't worked out since Friday. But I am sorry, I have a head ache today. (as Haylee is trying to come out into the living room with her guitar AND microphone.....oy vey!)

My sweetie pie husband bought me a Penn State hat - annnnd it's pink! :o) Isn't it cute? He attends Penn State (online course). I'm so proud of him, now I can show his school spirit, LOL!

Oh a really good thing that happened today was my vacation has been approved! :o) So in Oct Tim and I are going to New York for sure. I'm so excited!!!!! We're already planning it out.

- - Side note: WHY do children get loud when you have a head ache???????? Why do they need your full attention also? Is it a joke? I don't get it.

Hmmmm well I hope you all had a good Monday!
love,
Mel

So awesome!

Today at church we had a guest worship leader...the Michael Gungor Band! If you've never heard of him, which I am sure you have if you listen to contemp. christian music, he's amazing! THEY are amazing. www.michaelgungor.com One of his big hits is "I am a Friend of God". You should go to his official site and listen! I think it's so cool that our church does that once in awhile. :o) I love my church!!

Did I ever post the picture of the time they had Haylee's face on the background in front of the church?? Here it is, my sister took a pic when she was here a few months back and emailed it to me.

You can see her face blended in with the back ground and under it says "Gratitude". It was a sermon on gratitude and they had us email them a bunch of pics of things we are thankful for, this was one of the many I sent them. Around the rest of the church they had plasma tv's all around with everyone's pictures, it was super cool. :o) It was great my sis got to see it! How special.

I forgot to add this the first time 'round, but wanted to add it to this post from today. ;o) On Saturday when we went to see family for Jordan's bday party we first went to Ontario Mills Mall - - it's a huge mall with lots of stores (I think it has mostly outlets) - anyway we just went to kill some time and there is a Raider's Image store so OF COURSE we had to go. ;oP (if ya didn't know, Tim is the biggest Raider fan, even after the crappy year last year!) So we go and there is a LINE of people waiting outside!!! So I went to the front and some guy named Greg Townsend was there (he's HUGE!) signing autographs and shaking kids' hands. I guess he is this legend, for those of you who know football and Raider history you probably know. ;o) Anyway, he was charging for things and we bought a polaroid picture of us/him. Here is a picture of it, and he signed it...he was SOOOOO nice & sweet! Even shook Haylee's hand and called her sweet girl. :o)

I've had a really good weekend, hope you all did also!!

Love ya,
Melissa

Satan WANTS to win

...but he cannot! I am just going to blog my thoughts right now (not that I usually don't, LOL!). I got to really thinking about something the other day. You may not know this about me, but sometimes - actually a lot of times - I don't have a lot of faith in myself. I let that lack of self confidence get in the way of plenty of things I COULD have done or COULD be doing.

I know it's not healthy & I am really trying hard to grow out of this. I'm praying about it & within the next year I would like to honestly just go back to college & get my degree. I'm really thinking of something artsy, as I really have a passion for art & I also love photography. I also would LOVE to learn how to sew! ;o) It would be wonderful to do photography as I'm very interested in it and I LOVE pictures. I think they last forever & it's neat to hold that one moment in time - - FOREVER!

Anyway...back to my weakness - - lack of self confidence (which is weird since I was in the military...I think I gained more back then but I've been out for almost 5 years now). I was listening to my Aaron Shust cd (he's an awesome contemp christian singer and if you haven't heard him yet, you should). There is this song that says "strip away the things that leave me deaf & blind".

Deaf & blind. I believe this could be taken in many different ways. The way I took it this morning, granted I've listened to this song for awhile now & never thought about it this intensely, God - take away those things that leave me deaf & blind to you (Him, as in God). This could even mean those nasty little words Satan is whispering in my ear... "you can't do that, you are not smart enough for that, you will look stupid, are you serious?" - - God...please strip those things away. They keep me from believing in my faith - the faith only given by God - - that I CAN do anything I set my mind to, anything God puts in my path. I can do those things.

I think it's funny how Satan tries SO SO hard to get in the way of life. Sometimes he does accomplish, but that is only if we let him. Have you ever thought about that? I hope I am making sense, I'm pretty tired right now (afterall, it IS past 10pm, and if you know me, you know I'm usually snoozin' by now!). But I believe it's true. If we let him win, he will. If we put our total FAITH in God, our Heavenly Father, you will never fail. He will never fail you (I should say).

So anyway...yeah, that's what I've had on my mind all day & it moved me enough to blog about it. :o) Have a great weekend everyone! Look for pics tomorrow, probably on Haylee's side.

Love ya much,
Mel

Don't let your heart be troubled...

JESUS LOOKED AT THEM AND SAID, "WITH MEN IT IS IMPOSSIBLE, BUT NOT WITH GOD; FOR WITH GOD ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE." ( MARK 10:27 *NKJV )

When we put all of our faith in God, He will help us through life's problems, and bless us as well! However, WITHOUT FAITH IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO PLEASE HIM, FOR HE WHO COMES TO GOD MUST BELIEVE THAT HE IS, AND THAT HE IS A REWARDER OF THOSE WHO DILIGENTLY SEEK HIM. ( HEBREWS 11:6 )

Now when we have faith in God it pleases Him and we become filled with true peace, AND THE PEACE OF GOD, WHICH SURPASSES ALL UNDERSTANDING WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND MINDS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS. ( PHILIPPIANS 4:7 )

After all what is the opposite of faith, but worry itself!! So do not let doubt enter your mind, for after all God has said: "BEHOLD, I AM THE LORD, THE GOD OF ALL FLESH. IS THERE ANYTHING TOO HARD FOR ME?" ( JEREMIAH 32:27 ) It is also written that: WHEN A MAN'S WAYS PLEASE THE LORD, HE MAKES EVEN HIS ENEMIES TO BE A PEACE WITH HIM. ( PROVERBS 16:7 )

My prayer for you is: THAT YOU MAY WALK WORTHY OF THE LORD, FULLY PLEASING HIM, BEING FRUITFUL IN EVERY GOOD WORK AND INCREASING IN THE KNOWLEDGE OF GOD. ( COLOSSIANS 1:10 ) Amen!

I went on a CRUISE boat!

Oh what a day! This post is going to be COMPLETE opposite from yesterday's post. LOL! Today was wonderful. :o)

I think God heard my cry last night when I went home & prayed about my nasty day.

Somehow I got signed up at work to go with an Audit Manager and a Tax Partner to a Harbor Cruise. Our company was a sponsor so I had to assist everyone, play hostess, write out name tags and silly little stuff like that. After that I got to do whatever, mingle, eat, drink, whatever. ;o) It was a lot of fun! Much better than sitting at a desk all day (but that is fine too).

I just love the harbor, the ocean, the cool breeze, the palm trees, other boats, bazillion dollar homes that I will never be able to afford but are nice to admire, just the whole atmosphere was wonderful. It was refreshing & the best part is someone at my work thought of ME to do the job. Which is nice since I have been second guessing myself on a few things (and after my crappy day yesterday).

I wish I would've taken my camera with me because it was all so gorgeous and the boat (although not a huge one) was cozy & neat! It was made out of all wood (even the floors) and had a vintage feel to it. :o)

I can't believe tomorrow is FRIDAY already!

Wow...

Ever had a day where nothing seemed to go right?? Well - today is MY day. :P Seriously it just didn't seem to start off nicely & I guess that is what started the downhill slide.

First off - Haylee fell out of bed this morning around 5:30AM and couldn't go back to sleep. She was VERY tired too because yesterday the Y took the kids on a HUGE walk to the fire/police department for field trip day. She was crabby ALL morning long. Which doesn't usually put me in the best of moods. ;)

I went back to sleep for a bit and woke up at 6AM, with my new routine I get up at 5:30AM but I was so tired for some reason. So I didn't get to read my Bible. :( I was sad.

I haven't done dry cleaning in forever (since last week) so I had NO clean pants to wear today. So I dug into my dirty ones & pulled out the one less wrinkled and smelly (I don't want any judgement whatsoever here...only sympathy! *wink*). I was running late so I just put my hair into two pigtail buns (some of you have seen this look on me) - - it's my "my hair is too long and I can't do anything with it" look. At least I've had about 4 comments on it at work. But still...ugh. I don't FEEL pretty, LOL.

I went to the bathroom today, and the tie on the back of my shirt fell into the toilet...I kid you not. At least it was only the tip that got wet, but still. How discusting is that?!?!!!

I had to run and grab lunch for one of the partners today for a meeting (so 3 lunches) and I couldn't find the bakery - - I parked on the opposite side of the building and had to run all the way around (in dress shoes and 90 degree - felt like it - weather). Are you feeling sorry for me yet??????? :)

Anyway...praying today gets better! Pray with me! LOL. I think I need all I can get today. ;)

Taco Bowl Recipe

Well since I posted on Haylee's blog the pic of her cooking taco bowls I've had a couple of requests for the recipe. LOL! Who would've known someone would ask ME for a recipe! :)

If you haven't already, you SHOULD go to www.kraftfoods.com and sign up for your FREE seasonal Kraft Foods magazine. It has THE BEST recipes & quick 'n easy for those busy Mommies, just like moi!

Here's the recipe for taco bowls:

8 TACO BELL® HOME ORIGINALS® Flour Tortillas
1 lb. extra lean ground beef
1 cup TACO BELL® HOME ORIGINALS® Thick 'N Chunky Salsa
1/2 cup KRAFT 2% Milk Shredded Reduced Fat Cheddar Cheese
2 cups chopped lettuce
1 cup chopped tomatoes
1/4 cup KRAFT Ranch Dressing

PREHEAT oven to 350°F. Microwave tortillas on HIGH 30 sec. or until softened. Press 1 tortilla into each of eight medium muffin cups to form a bowl. Carefully fold edges of tortilla back to keep an opening for the filling. Bake 10 min.
MEANWHILE, brown meat in large skillet on medium heat; drain. Stir in salsa; bring to boil. Reduce heat to medium-low; simmer 10 min. Spoon about 1/4 cup of the meat mixture into each tortilla bowl.
TOP evenly with cheese, lettuce and tomatoes. Drizzle with dressing.

*We actually use our store brand FRESH Salsa (get from the deli section) instead of the Kraft one. We also nix the tomato (b/c the salsa has it in it already), lettuce & ranch dressing. I also add 1/2 cup of the cheese while I'm cooking the meat. This is a wonderful recipe! The whole family loves it.

Update & Some news!

Read the fortune cookie! My brother & sister-in-law are having a BABY GIRL (due in December). If you just KNEW how hard it is for this family to have little girls...LOL! There were five boys before the first girl came around (which was my niece Lilly and Haylee followed two weeks later)! Anyway...Jeff & Brandie have THREE little boys (Dallin, Hunter & Jordan) and now a baby GIRL on the way. I knew it! Congrats Brandie....I'm very excited for you guys!

So I started my NEW routine this morning...waking up at 6AM and reading my Bible, then exercising after work. I was thinking of a million reasons on my way home why I DIDN'T want to work out. ;o) But once I got home I started in on my routine and felt great. I actually did a LONG walk at work today with friends, so that was good too. I have upped my workout to this:

- 40 push ups (I think last week I did 20)
- 40 back ward push ups
- 100 crunches
- 25 leg squats
- 50 leg lifts

I also do some good stretching before I start any of this - - it's sad, and I'll admit it on here because hopefully soon I'll be able to do it, but I can't even reach to my toes when I sit down and extend my legs out directly in front of me, it hurts too bad! So hopefully soon I'll be able to do that. Like I said, I'm not in shape at all. My body is very out of wack. ;o) But I'm on my way to getting healthy again!! One good thing about doing these at home too is that Haylee loves to lay with me and do them. She laughs and it makes me giggle, but we get through them together and that's just more time to bond with her. I love it!

Well I'm going to be pretty busy the rest of this week...tomorrow I have to be at work at 7AM for a meeting I have to set up the conference room. Wednesday night is Haylee's acting class (which she is changing to a vocal lessons class instead, more about that later on her blog). Thursday I go to work and then leave at 1pm for a boat cruise in Newport Beach that I have to represent my company for/hand out mugs, etc (should be fun though, a boat cruise!) - I don't get home until after 6:30PM for that though. Friday should be normal. Saturday is my nephew's 3rd birthday party!

Have a great week everyone...I'll try to sneak on again soon.
Love,
Mel

Great weekend...

So my weekend was pretty neat! We went to the County Fair on Saturday and we all had SO much fun. I love seeing Haylee so happy. It makes ME happy. It feels good to spend time with her and cherish these moments forever.

Today was church - - an AWESOME sermon about the Power of Prayer. I really think God spoke to me in a sense also. I am going to switch my Bible/God/Prayer time to the mornings instead of before bed & I'm going to start my work outs right after work (this is when Tim works out, so it's perfect timing anyway). My dinners might be quicker things to make (thank goodness for my wonderful Kraft Foods magazines I get each season! LOOOOOVE those!). But at least I'll be putting God 1st in my day, and ultimately I feel that is what I need to be doing anyhow.

Tonight I am making a big dinner - - which if you know me, I am not a gourmet chef or anything, and cooking is not my passion (art is, cooking - not so much). Anyway, we are having chicken breasts on the grill (marinated in a dressing), cooked & grilled corn on the cob, grilled herbed potatoes & red onion and green beans. For dessert I made a blueberry no-bake cheesecake with whipped cream topping. My stomach is jumping for joy just thinking about it! :) I think I'm going to start cooking big on Sundays since I don't usually during the week (I do cook, but it's more like spaghetti or tacos, easy stuff!).

I hope you ALL had a wonderful weekend with your families also.

Love you all,
Mel

It's FRIDAY!

Happy Friday the 13th! :) I don't believe in all the silly superstition stuff. But I hope you have a great one! Not really sure what we're doing this weekend - - I can't believe it's already here again. July is flying by SO fast it seems?!

A little update on my exercising...everyday since my 1st post about it (Tues I think) I have been getting up at 6AM (slowly trying to make it 5:30!) and doing push ups (I'm up to 40 now), backward push ups (up to 20, these are harder!), crunches (still doing 50), leg kicks (50) and stretches. I am SO out of shape I wanted to start out nice and easy. Otherwise I'll get over worked & stop exercising like so many people do. I also walk a few blocks at work almost ever day. Last night we played tennis too! Next week I'm going to start with some weights & squats & add more reps to the above. I feel GREAT!!!! :)

I got this little poem this morning w/my God minute & thought I'd share..

The Dearest Friend!

I have a Friend in Jesus,
He's ever walking near
To share my every burden
And take away my fear.

It's in His precious name I pray
To our God above;
It's through His sacred teachings that
I learned the way to love.

God did not put me on this earth
To walk life's path alone;
He sent His Son to be my Guide,
The dearest Friend I've known.

No other One could be so true,
He bore the cross for me;
Because He died for my sins
I must ever faithful be.

If you are lonely on life's way
And feel that no one cares,
You have a Friend in Jesus
If you will kneel in prayer.
Poet, Kay Hoffman

Love you all!!

Some daily bread...fuel for your day

I liked my God Minute this morning a LOT! It just feels like God is speaking all around - I do get disconnected sometimes...and let me be flat honest - a lot of times. I let this busy world get the best of me. It's those moments I take time to pray & dig into the Word of God I feel most safe & blessed. I am expressive (and artsy) - therefore I created a blog I can share all of these wonderful feelings.

I don't want anyone to get the wrong idea - that I think I'm better than anyone else, because I AM NOT. I am far from perfect. Just ask my family! :) But I am delighted in the Lord, and I just pray that shines through in my bloggings. I love you guys!

David said, LET MY LIFE BE VALUED MUCH IN THE
EYES OF THE LORD, AND LET HIM DELIVER ME OUT
OF ALL TRIBULATION.
( 1 SAMUEL 26:24 *NKJV )

Dear Friends,
Just as David, when your life becomes filled with trouble,
suffering or woe, and you long for a little peace, turn to our
Savior Jesus Christ. For He said: "THESE THINGS I HAVE
SPOKEN TO YOU, THAT IN ME YOU MAY HAVE PEACE
IN THE WORLD YOU WILL HAVE TRIBULATION; BUT BE
OF GOOD CHEER, I HAVE OVERCOME THE WORLD."
( JOHN 16:33 )

After all, Jesus' never abandons us, leaving us to struggle
all alone! We can always call on Him in even the most
troublesome times, for He is always with us! For, WHO
SHALL SEPARATE US FROM THE LOVE OF CHRIST?
SHALL TRIBULATION, OR DISTRESS, OR PERSECUTION,
OR FAMINE, OR NAKEDNESS, OR PERIL, OR SWORD?
The answer is nothing at all! ( ROMANS 8:35 )

Also remember that confusion comes from satan and
not from our Heavenly Father, for it is written: FOR GOD
IS NOT THE AUTHOR OF CONFUSION BUT OF PEACE.
( 1 CORINTHIANS 14:33 )

So my fellow bloggers (added by Melissa), BE ANXIOUS FOR NOTHING, BUT IN
EVERYTHING BY PRAYER AND SUPPLICATION, WITH
THANKSGIVING, LET YOUR REQUESTS BE MADE KNOWN
TO GOD; AND THE PEACE OF GOD, WHICH SURPASSES
ALL UNDERSTANDING, WILL GUARD YOUR HEARTS AND
MINDS THROUGH CHRIST JESUS. Amen.
( PHILIPPIANS 4:6-7 )

Strength

I feel burdened today to post this - - I was actually thinking about it last night while I was doing my nightly prayers and reading that I want to interact with people who read my blog.

So - - here is your chance. I belong to my church's prayer chain, but I print it out weekly as it is emailed to me. I also write in other things I know I need to pray about & I have a lot of friends who entrust me to pray about matters in their lives. God hears prayer...He is willing to listen to us and it is a chance for us to meet with Him & walk with Him in a way the world knows not of.

Prayer is POWERFUL. You may not think it is, but trust me - prayer can move mountains. And Faith also! It goes hand in hand.

I'm wanting to add anything you are willing to give me to my prayer list. So, if you have something that you would like me to pray about - or if you want me to add anything to my church's prayer chain (so the whole congregation can pray over it) - - PLEASE leave me a comment under this post.

If you have something you'd rather not type out for fear of others reading it - you can either say "unspoken" - because listen GOD knows what your unspoken is! It doesn't matter if I know or not! :) Or you can email me your request. hayleebug@gmail.com

Remember what the Bible says:

  • The LORD is my strength and my shield; My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped; Therefore my heart exults, and with my song I shall thank Him. Psalm 27:8
I hope you all have a wonderful day!
Love ya,

Morning check in

Well early this morning Haylee wanted to sleep with us, so her and Daddy are up there snoozin'. She didn't have fever before bed or before we went up to bed. She didn't feel hot this morning either. I think those homeopathic drops are working. I love that they're homeopathic so we can give them to her anytime she feels pain. :)

Tim is staying home w/her this morning because the Y is going on a field trip to the movie theater and she can't go until 24 hrs after her fever subsides (crazy, right?). So maybe Grammy will take her later or Daddy will just work from home again today. It's really hard for me to take days off since I just started! Thank God for Tim ability to work from home!

I started off my morning well with:

-50 crunches
-20 push ups
-leg stretches
-10 backward push ups (ow)
-and 1 min worth of butterfly leg kicks

I haven't exercised in years AND it feels like it! I also plan on walking at work again today and if Haylee is up to it, we will all play a little tennis later tonight (that may or may not happen). I'm glad I actually did some form or exercise.

I also met my Bible reading goal last night & read the last book of Proverbs. It was wonderful, it talked about women & wives. :) Really good verses!!

Thanks for your prayers for Haylee. Love you guys! -Melissa

Monday...woof

The morning didn't start out right...maybe it was the wake up cries from Haylee at 1:15 AM, 2:30 AM and 4 AM that did it. Not sure, the morning was all a blur!

Haylee woke up all three times crying that she has an ear infection. Ugggh. She seemed to be half asleep, so I thought maybe something was bothering her ears & I felt her for a fever, which she did not have. All three times she went back to sleep, thankfully.

The afternoon wasn't much of an improvement. When the YMCA called me at 12:30 noon I just KNEW what they were going to say. It's never a GOOD call, ya know?!

"Hi Melissa, this is Joyce from the YMCA, Haylee has a low grade fever of 99.9, we are going to keep her inside, but I will call you in an hour to let you know how she's doing, it might go down."

NOT EVEN an hour later, Joyce called back & the fever broke 100.

OF COURSE today at work I had a HUGE project, due by Wednesday. (Of course, right?!) So I called Tim & he picked her up & worked from home. Thankfully he has a job that he can do that! Praise God for that small miracle today.

Haylee has been complaining all day of her ears itching & hurting. My first thought is, Swimmer's Ear. I got it ALL the time as a kid. I am still pretty sure that is what it is. So I bought her some homeopathic child's ear drops & she says her ears don't hurt anymore. Her fever broke finally & we're just waiting it out. Not sure how tomorrow will pan out - so if you are reading this please say a prayer for her. :) We could sure use it.

Tim, Haylee and I were supposed to go play Tennis tonight, as my first day of exercise is TODAY (go figure! Satan wants me fat, LOL). Good thing I walked around my work block today with a friend from work! Oh and a funny story about ME today - - a little humor I'm guessing from God - - out of the midst of my yucky day....

I was going to call Haylee's doctor so I thought I could use a little privacy so I went to the stair well at work (we are on the 10th floor at my office). I called and did my thing, went to go back in and the door LOCKED! LOL! I had to walk down 10...YES - 10 FLIGHTS of stairs to get out! Oh my gosh...I just had to chuckle the whole way down. Thanks God....who ever said He doesn't have a sense of humor eh?!

Ooooooh Monday!

THOSE WHO WAIT ON THE LORD
SHALL RENEW THEIR STRENGTH; THEY SHALL MOUNT
UP WITH WINGS LIKE EAGLES, THEY SHALL RUN AND
NOT GET WEARY, THEY SHALL WALK AND NOT FAINT.
ISAIAH 40:31

Goals

I am just SO sick of not getting things done that I deem important. Such things as my health & physical well being - not that it's going down hill, but I know one thing. I am NOT getting any younger & my body WILL be complaining soon if I don't get my 'rear in gear' so to speak. ;)

Another thing is fully diving into the Word of God. I used to be better at it and Tim even bought me a Daily Walk Read the Bible through the Year Bible...and what have I done? I've skipped probably 3 months out of the darn thing. I feel so guilty & mad at myself for doing this.

So...here is my goal. For the WORLD to see, maybe now I'll actually start doing things & if I don't, someone please remind me that I should be doing them! :P

My new (and improved) schedule during the work week:

5:30 AM - wake up & EXERCISE (Mon, Tues, Thurs, Fri only) - any form for 30 mins
6:00-7:00 AM - get ready for work/Haylee ready for school
after work - - pick up Haylee - - dinner/clean up/Haylee bath & bed by 8:00 PM
and READ one day's worth on my Bible EVERY night before BED (I think it's the best/quietest time in my house)

Tim and I also bought new tennis rackets - even one for Haylee! We have a court in our community & we're going to start playing as a family at least once a week/night. We also agreed to get our bikes down from the garage wall & start pedaling as a family. :) I'm really excited!

Ok...now I've released my new goals. I HAVE to stick to them. I think they're pretty feasible. It's going to be HARD waking up & getting enthused about EXERCISING at 5:30 AM! Pray for me, I know I can do it (heck, I did it in the Air Force!! and survived boot camp. LOL!).

XO - Melissa

God bless America

Have a happy 4th of July everyone!! Be safe & God bless you. :)

Oh I have to shout out to my (our) friend Josh! He visited us last week with his girlfriend - Gloria. We have known Josh now for ohhh probably almost 7 years now - dated back to our Air Force days. Josh called Tim yesterday and told him that they got married in VEGAS! Wow - I was so surprised. LOL! When they were here we had no idea (I don't think they even knew they'd do it). It was a spontaneous nuptial I think. ;) But none the less, they seemed really happy (and in love). So Josh called me & talked about it also. HAPPY WEDDING DAY TO JOSH & GLORIA!! I pray you have a long, lasting marriage together. :))

I'm having a hard time with Haylee lately, I love her to death, but I think I'm really going to focus on spending more time and working with her on reading more, writing, crafts, and just doing things together in general. Life sucks you in sometimes and it's sad but I get so tired of my normal daily routine that sometimes I just overlook things & I just feel guilty. So that is my goal this week/weekend - to bond more with her!

Take care and I'll probably put more pics on here tomorrow...you can always count on me. ;)
