Seriously

can this day go by ANY slower?? it's raining - actually POURING - i LOVE it. i love it so much i actually ran out in it to WALK across the street (big street, with a crosswalk who's light took forever to turn green) and buy a burrito from Rubio's. oh my goodness it hit the spot, it was HOT and just delicsiou. :) someone bought whip cream to go with the hot cocoa we have in the kitchen, so around 2pm or so i'm going to get some (i already had one cup today, but whatever, it's COLD out!). it's 56 degrees out here people! can't get any colder than THAT in California. ;)

i wish i had a good book to read (come on Barnes & Noble....hee hee). for now i'll just blog some random things!

i worried if Miley would go outside this morning with the raining just a pourin, but guess what? she DID! she even stood out there & played a bit. nothing can stop this dog i swear, she's pretty easy going. i LOVE that about her. she likes to talk back though....figures, we live in a family of TALKERS (i've even formed into one!). she's adorable though and i've discovered i have to bathe her 1-2 times a WEEK in order for us to put up with her funk. ;) she can get preeeeeetty smelly at times! i don't know how! she's loving her raw hide bones and she's pretty much chewed them all up to pieces! looks like Santa will be getting Miley some bones for Christmas this year! ;)

Haylee got her school portraits back yesterday! they turned out a lot better than her other school's photos. i actually purchased some of these too, so i will be mailing those out, if you really want one, please let me know. i think i have 16 wallets. i totally forgot i ordered them until i got them yesterday! :) i wish i would've known or remembered because i just SEALED all of my Christmas cards, but oh well. would be kind of bad if i UNsealed them to insert the school pic. LOL!

my feet are SO cold right now. i am NOT wearing "weather appropriate" shoes! i'm wearing ballet flats and not gouloshes! (or whatever you people call them....whatever, it never rains here!)

ok...well my office is full of people now so better go! tootles!

How'd that happen??

holy cow! i thought it would be fun to go to target on my lunch break (since it's just across the way) & look for new work slacks. i really need some BADLY. i've had the same ones for a few years and they were falling apart. i also know that the pants i currently have are getting baggy on me. i DO NOT KNOW HOW though because i've been eating so poorly!

i was trying on pants and the size i THOUGHT i was in was very baggy. well, i thought to myself, there is NO way i'm a size smaller that what i'm in now -- i tried them on just to prove to myself, and WOW - they fit.

i guess i'm on a semi-weight loss plan because i eat a Smart Ones or a Lean Cuisine for lunch EVERYday. i probably go out to eat for lunch maybe once every 2 weeks (except the for the past few weeks it's been more often). and i'm usually just drinking water, vitamin water or diet coke. i am very active too. not exercising (i did that for 2 days and that was it, hopefully i'll get back on track soon!) - but just the fact i HAVE to be moving all day.

i work a desk job & probably 80% of the time i'm standing or running around and not at my desk. i run a lot of errands for the partners too. i also have an active 5 yr old and a puppy that keep me busy and i usually don't SIT down until around 8pm or after from the time i get up (615am). could that be it?? it could be the "stress" of the holidays too. i'm so excited!! i didn't really want to lose weight (that is probably why i lost it...go figure) - when i WANT to, i can't!

i thought i'd share because frankly, i'm amazed. i don't know how much i weigh (don't own a scale, they're depressing) - but i know i went down one pant size! woooo hoooooo hooooooo! LOL! :)

sorry if i sound like i'm gloating...i'm not. i'm just bored today. :)

i cannot wait for the weekend!! i think we're going to see tim's brothers an hour away and that means i get to see my baby niece Emma!!!!! i am thrilled. oh i have to call Brandie and tell her, ha ha! i want to get a pic of me holding her. i love her so much and i'm excited she's here.

i hope you all have a FABULOUS day & i hope you all get good news like i received today!!!!!!! :) :) :)

Pampering myself

i have such WONDERFUL friends! for my birthday i received numerous gift cards, how thoughtful!! i really didn't expect it just because i hardly ever get anything from my friends (or family) for my bday anymore now that i'm older, ha ha! so it was a very nice surprise. i still have a few left, but i've been shopping a little here and there. it's really nice to buy things i wouldn't normally buy for myself.

like the other day we were at the mall & i had a Bath & Body Works gift card. so i bought some Japanese Cherry Blossom lotion, shower gel & body spray. man that smell is SOOOO good, i LOVE it! i think it's my new favorite smell. i might have to go back after Christmas & buy more. ;)

i had a Barnes & Noble gift card also, but i don't make it to the book store all too often. i had a little extra time at work today -- so i surfed the B&N website & something (God perhaps?) led me to this book:

"How to Succeed at Being Yourself, Finding the Confidence to Fulfill Your Destiny" by Joyce Meyer. i like this author, she's a Christian author & i have read some of her book before. Mrs J - i know you read her! the book fit into my budget & the title intrigued me a bit. :) i'm always looking for ways to BETTER myself, so who knows! i will let you know how it is.

well i keep thinking about this today - since i read it on her blog. actually the link is on Haylee's blog - "Pray for Ashley". if you don't mind, can you please go over there & read her entry from today? she really needs and wants to be home with her family this weekend to decorate the Christmas tree. Ashley is a precious little girl who has been through numerous transplants. she is VERY sick, and the mom (Trish) and Ashley (i think she's not yet 2 yrs old) are stuck in a hospital in Omaha, Nebraska and her husband and other 2 kids are living in their home in Texas. i know they've been in the hospital a long time now, please pray she gets her pass to go home for a few days so Trish & Ashley can be with the rest of their family. it sounds like something she really needs. i don't even know these people, but if you start reading her blog...it'll touch your life forever. trust me.

also - keep praying for my sister, Liz. i don't even think i need to go into details on here, but she could always use your prayers during this time. sometimes people go through tough times & they just need a little extra prayer and thoughts to get through, you know? it's one of those times. i know Liz would greatly appreciate it also!

i hope you have a wonderful night & enjoy the time with your family. :)
love,
Melissa

A snowman cake & lights!

well i just wanted to hop on here and post a pic of the snowman cupcake CAKE i made! this was try #2! it's from a silicone mold and it's 12 cupcakes you bake and put them together like a puzzle to form a CAKE. this is the first thing like this i have EVER made. LOL. we got the mold from Target everytime we would walk by it, tim would say "my mom used to make cakes like that" -- so i decided what the heck. :)

it came out pretty good if i do say so myself! and i do! ;)

also wanted to blog pics of my house on the outside, my wonderful hubby tim put up lights around the bottom and we got a fresh wreath for the outside (look at the entrance way) and put lights up the palm tree! it looks really nice! after christmas i will see if there is something else like a nativity or snowman or something that lights up that we can put in the yard for next year. we might still do lights around the front window of the house also. we shall see!! if you look really hard you can see tim in one of the pics below (he was on the phone correcting a direct tv invoice, the crazies got it wrong!!).

i have to get off here and clean the upstairs, it looks like a clothing store threw up in our bedrooms and i'm going to go through haylee's toys to give to charity to make room for christmas things! :) it's always a good time to talk to her about kids who do not have certain things....she has SO MUCH stuff!

have a GREAT week! love -- mel

Blogging now & a POLL (please comment!)

Sometimes it's hard for me to sit down to find time to BLOG and to respond to others blogs....here lately that is. ;o) I'm sure it'll just get worse. I was seriously thinking today of condensing both mine and Haylee's down to ONE family blog....what do you think? Comments? Please?? :o) Would that be easier on everyone else too? I just like for her to have her own, but I guess it truly doesn't matter THAT much. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated! ;o)

Hmmmmm -- so I've discovered a few things about myself this long Thanksgiving weekend (although long it seems to be flying by!). Mainly some parenting that I need to dust up on. Haylee is a great kid. She sometimes needs a little more PUSHING than other kids her age. I discovered the other day that I've created a monster in her. Not really noticing, but it was pointed out to me by someone I LOVE dearly that I am NOT helping her by doing everything for her. I have done this her whole life (all 5 years of it so far!). Not even meaning to, thinking I'm making things easier on us all by doing everything, but really only making her lazy, unmotivated and undisciplined (by me). I don't think it is too late to change it either. I am determined. Just as an example, up until this weekend she did not know how to buckle her own seat belt. She probably KNEW how to do it, but never did it. She struggled, so much until I just did it for her. So we made her do it all weekend and now she's doing it like a pro! It's not hard, and she just needed to discover that, but she never could or would because I'd always be there doing it for her!

Another example....riding her bike. She still has training wheels, but I would almost always push her on her bike and she never tried and so I never made her try. We are still working on it, but after all weekend of riding her bike, she's improving quite nicely. There are other things too, but I just had to realize for myself that I was never helping her by doing everything for her. I NEED her to learn responsibility! I do not want her totally relying on ME for everything, especially as she gets older. I want us to have a respectful relationship - not her resenting me for doing everything for her. You know what I mean? It's hard parenting sometimes! No one said it would be easy, but you really have to be on your game. ;o)

Anyway....we are having a great weekend just hanging out as family and doing fun things together like the park, shopping (LOTS of it, almost all done!), cooking and baking (yes, I'm baking) and playing with our puppy Miley! It's fun. :o) I have taken a lot of pics and developed some for the Christmas cards! One of the pics I took of Haylee & Miley is so funny, Haylee is trying too hard to smile...but I thought it was hilarious, so I printed it up for cards. Some of ya might get that one. I did some others too. I will post them all up later, closer to Christmas. :o)

I have a lot of pics, I will post them later on! I hope everyone is having a good weekend. I think I'll work on a family blog and see how I like it. That way I can just blog in one spot...unless you all love the individual blogs. Either way, doesn't matter to me! Let's take a poll.....a family blog or individual (like I have it now) blogs? Which do YOU prefer? I'll post the same amount of pictures and words and let you know everything you want to know about all of us. Just in one place. Or I can keep doing what I'm doing in two different places. I'll let YOU decide! ;o)

My beautiful NIECE is here - Emma LaRae

what a GREAT thanksgiving day we had! we traveled almost an hour to see my niece who was born on nov 21st at 4am - 8lbs, 7oz and 20 inches long. Princess Emma LaRae!

can you please pray for her? she is in NICU right now because she has low sugar and they just found out a bacterial infection. she's in one of those little incubator things right now. she has an IV. at first i was worried, but she looks SO content and healthy...after all she IS 8lbs! ;) she's as cute as a BUTTON and i cannot wait to HOLD her! i love her so much! :) :) :)

she will be discharged after one week. they have to give her antibiotics to rid her of the infection. she will be just fine! yay Emma's here!

after our hospital visit we went to jeff & brandie's house (even though brandie wasn't there, lol) and had our Thanksgiving dinner. brandie's grandma is visiting from Utah and we decided to go ahead and have Thanksgiving dinner even with brandie & emma in the hospital. it was really good food and we all had fun! haylee loves playing with her cousins!

here are a few pics of emma and yes i took a lot! i'm surprised i wasn't kicked out of the hospital, lol! j/k.

Look at all of her HAIR! Yup, auntie will be in the bow makin' business again shortly!

A random pic of Miley & Haylee when we got home

At jeff's - - here are my nephews (Emma's three brothers!) from bottom to top:
Jordan, Dallin & Hunter

Hunter & Haylee (she was eating veggies & ranch dip, LOL)

Haylee & me this morning after we got ready to go!

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!!

She's here!!

my niece was born at 4am this morning!!! welcome home emma! :) too bad she wasn't born a few hours earlier, we'd share the same birthday, but that's ok. i think i'll always remember her birthday now, one day after mine! ;)

i don't know the stats (tim just talked to his brother at 6am, but he didn't get exact stats, i know she was about 8lbs and 20 inches) -- but we're going to their house tomorrow and if brandie isn't home from the hospital, i am going to go see her and take pictures of baby emma! yipeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

today i get off work at 2pm (1 hour and counting, LOL!). miley has a vet apt today to get shots too. then i'm going to clean and probably do some mild shopping. ;)

if i don't get online tomorrow, then i just wanted to wish you all a HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

love
mel

28

that's how old i am today. i'd like to say i'm wiser...and maybe i am...i know i've accomplished a lot for my age. :) i feel like i've always done things young for my age - such as receiving Christ at age 9 (i guess that is not too young), getting baptized at age 9, joining the air force at 18, married at 19, having my child at 23 (again, that's not too young). i've accomplished a lot for 28. i don't mean to brag, but i feel like i am just very very blessed!

this morning i woke up to my husband whispering 'happy birthday honey'. very sweet & he gave me a card. then haylee came running in with her card for me. :) my family is great! miley even wished me a happy birthday by peeing on my rug, how sweet. :P

then i got to work & i got a text message from my sister! and i was greeted by a friend at work with a happy birthday melissa! then i walked away from my desk, came back to not one, not two but THREE birthday cards and gift certificates! oh my goodness, i wasn't expecting that at all. we're all going out to lunch today too, i thought that was great enough. :) i love my co-workers, as my friend steph says...they're not just my co-workers, but my FRIENDS. i really do have a great work enviornment, i am truly blessed.

my cell phone was put away (at work) but i got a voice message from my mom!! i don't mean to call you out mom, but if i can just be 100% honest, my mom and i haven't always seen eye to eye on things. we've had our complete differences and truthfully, and sadly, we haven't spoken to each other (on the phone) in almost 2 yrs. :( things are gradually changing it seems and it looks like God is working things out for us. THANK YOU mom for calling me, even if you got my voice mail. it was really a big SURPRISE for me to hear from you over the phone. i don't always put this part of my heart on the line if you know what i mean...because it's just too personal, but i thought i would share that with you guys today. it just really meant a lot to me and it made me really happy. funny how one phone call can help heal several wounds. i love you mom.

this year i want to extend myself more. i have felt this urge for awhile that i want to be more involved in others lives. i don't know how or when or why...i just feel like i have a gift to show mercy (i also took a spiritual gifts analysis and that is what my strongest gift was, showing mercy). one way or another i want to use my abilities to magnify the Lord. this year is the year. i've grown in so many ways, spiritually in the past 2 yrs alone. i'm very thankful for that. :)

tonight we're dropping haylee off with grammy and tim and i are going out with a few of my friends and their significant others to dave & busters. i'm excited!

ok i'll end this with a request (taking after you brandy!) -- my sister in law NEEDS to have this baby TODAY. otherwise, i'm afraid she'll be in the hospital over thanksgiving day. :( we are going to her house for thanksgiving, so i'm a bit worried how this t-day is going to turn out. pray pray pray that baby emma is born on her auntie melissa's birthday! nov 20th, what a WONDERFUL present that would be for me! :) :) :)

love you all...thanks for the ecards, you know who you are!

what's going on today

i'm really feeling in the Christmas spirit now -- we have the tree up, stockings hung, decor out, the guest bathroom changed over & now lights up on the house (although not lit up until the day after Thanksgiving....in 4 more days!). i know some of you cannot believe it, but it's quite typical in this household to have everything up WAY early! we LOVE Christmas!

church was GREAT today. i cannot even tell you how much i needed that message. it's one simply of giving thanks and gratitude. it was truly something my heart & soul & mind needed. funny how that works. sometimes i just take things for granted AND i complain. i am only human after all. but this message just put those things into perspective and really, i found that i don't have ANYTHING to complain about. nothing! i am healthy, i have a roof over my head, clothes on my body (and nice ones too), shoes on my feet (achy feet at that, but hey at least i have feet! praise GOD!), a happy (for the most part), healthy FAMILY, a car that runs, a job, a country in which i am FREE and can serve the GOD i want to. i have so many MANY things to be grateful for. i sometimes get sick & tired of the above stated things, but they're MY things and i have them and they may not always be PERFECT, but i need to learn to accept that. every morning i need to tell myself that i am thankful for these things. thank you GOD for your love.

we did a lot of things today, but going to the park (as stated on Haylee's blog) was NOT one of them, sorry. :( so i don't have any pics of that. i did take a few of Haylee, but i'm lovin' the last set i just put up on her blog yesterday!

we adopted a family today. i wasn't going to blog about it because i did NOT want to seem like i was bragging, because i am not. we adopted a family because we figured, we get each other enough stuff and we have so MUCH stuff that sometimes we do not know what to do with it all! Haylee is very spoiled and loved (whatever you call it) and instead of buying her MORE toys...we would "adopt" a family this year with a girl her age so that she could pick out gifts. i just really want to teach her how to be humble. it's so hard to do these days AND in the area in which we live. being materialistic just comes so naturally to SO MANY kids out here. it's plain ridiculous. i have a few stories just from my shopping experiences this weekend, but i'll spare you the drama. so anyway -- this charity type deal is called "Hope for the Holidays" and our church does it every year. i never thought we'd adopt a family but it just seemed like we were being called to do so. certain things fell into place this year and we had a little extra to give. listening to the pastor talk about these families, it was just heart wrenching. i wish i had enough money to adopt them all. these are low income to poor families that would other wise not have a Christmas. can you even IMAGINE that? not have a Christmas. children YOUR children's ages would not get presents?? it just blew my mind and actually brought tears to my eyes to even imagine. i picked the family and it was actually the 2nd family i looked at on the tree. the first one i just knew it wasn't meant for us. the 2nd one, i just felt it. i wanted a family with a 5 yr old girl. this one is a mom, dad & TWO little girls. one is age 5 and the other age 6. there are 3 things on each of their cards that they needed. it would break your heart to hear what they wanted.

well, all of them wanted bed linens, one girl (the 5 yr old) wanted shoes. the 6 yr old wanted jeans. there wasn't a toy on anyone's list! so we decided to get the girls some things they "wanted" and then some toys also (we let Haylee choose for them - she had a great time doing that). i feel blessed just knowing that these little girls will have some sort of Christmas now and God put them into our lives for a reason. i am going to write a little Christmas card to them also & tell them about Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. just the thought of this truly inspires me & i just want to help more than more families! it is really addicting. :) pray that somehow, some way i can be a part of more peoples' lives.

anyway...i don't really care if i get less things because we helped out this dear family in need. it made our hearts happy to help out, ya know? tis the season! :)

this next week should be easy - hopefully! tuesday is my 28th birthday! i can hardly believe i'll be 28 years old. ugh, almost the big 3-0. that's pretty hard to swallow for me! LOL i don't feel 28 by any means. ;) i feel young! and i don't think i look 28! ha ha ha!! when we're out & i get a little glass of wine or something, i am the ONLY one that ever gets carded. it's kind of a compliment i guess. but ugh, not really looking forward to getting older! Hee hee!

i will end with a PRAYER request! please pray that my sister in law Brandie has baby Emma either tonight or early tomorrow! if she has her after tomorrow she will be in the hospital for Thanksgiving and we're all planning on going to her house (to see Emma of course!) then. i would love to see my baby niece on Thanksgiving day. :) come on Emma LaRae, come on!!!

love you all....have a happy week, remembering to be THANKful!

re·sil·ient

I was listening to the radio this morning & they talked about having a "stress free" holiday season. This is me because I'm a perfectionist at times & even though it's only family I'm trying to make happy - I get frantic when things don't go right. But this year, I'm going to be RESILIENT. I'm not going to let things bother me. If the food isn't perfect, I'm fine...if my house isn't spic-n-span, I'm OK...and if one of the 6 kids, 2 dogs or 8 adults decides to get hurt and we all end up in the ER again, I'll survive this Christmas! :) That's what's great about being resilient, you'll always bounce back!

There are so many things to blog about! I've had them all in my mind and go figure I cannot think of them ALL as I have a moment to type. Ha!! I'll just start and I'm sure the rest will come (it always does).

Let's start with Miley. She is doing GREAT! I was going to blog last night that she has only had ONE accident in the house this whole week, but then she peed on the floor after her and Tim had a serious play of tug-o-war session. But all in all, the house training is going EXCELLENT and she is so DARN cute. It's really hard to get upset with her at times. I encountered a very GROSS situation last night with her though. Ugh. I won't get into details, let's just say she's very hairy and in one area got something nasty caught in her very particular area!! (Mom you KNOW what I mean) So ew. As I held her and gagged I decided to just emerge her into the sick and give her a bath until it came off. Ugh. Having a puppy is like having a baby at times!! She goes into the vet for shots and deworm on Nov 19th, I can't wait to see how well she's growing and talk to her vet about things.

Haylee girl is doing great also! She sometimes is jealous of the dog though. :P But all in all she's doing well also. I had a parent / teacher conference today and she's right on track for Kindergarten. We have to work with her on slowing down when she colors and writes letters and numbers because she tries to get it done so fast and does a sloppy job. Funny how she does that fast, everything else she's slow as molasses! ;) She truly takes her own time in things, but I guess this is different. There are a few other areas she needs help with, so we're planning on having an hour at night practicing. But she got a really good grade this quarter. I'm very proud of her. Her teacher says she is very SWEET and considerate too in class. She says she's very cautious and friendly. And of course she said something about her hair being done so perfectly everyday! It's funny ALL of her teachers and care providers have had something nice to say about her hair, ha ha!

Oh another thing on my mind...since we now live in a HOUSE, we have more solicitors than I could EVER have imagined! I don't know if it's just how conveinent our house is in the neighborhood or what! But it can get annoying I tell you. EVERY night and it only happens while we're eating dinner, we'll get one or two door bell ringers trying to sell us something. Tim usually answers, he's more intimidating than I am and he can cut them off. If I did it, I'd probably buy the world! It's hard for me to say no sometimes. :) I'm thinking of buying a nice sign that says "Solicitors will be prosecuted". Hee hee...just kidding...sorta. ;)

Let's see...I think this weekend we're going to start decorating for Christmas. We do this to get into the spirit. :) It is WAY early, we all know it, but it's fun and Haylee LOVES it! It's not THAT early if you think about it, most people decorate the day after Thanksgiving, well people that day is only a WEEK AWAY! One week! Can you believe it?? We are going to my brother in law's for Thanksgiving. He's an hour away and his wife is pregnant with their fourth child (I know, wow! ha ha!) ~ after 3 boys, she's having a baby GIRL, baby Emma. Hopefully she will be here prior to Thanksgiving, she'll be here any day now. I hope I get to hold her on Thanksgiving Day! I'm really glad I don't have to cook. ;) Cuz we ALL know how much I love to cook (ha ha ha). Actually, I don't mind it, I'm just not that great at it. So we're going to bring Costco made pies. Which are DELICIOUS anyhow! Maybe I'll bake something too, who knows. I can be crazy like that. :)

Alrighty, well I think that's all I have for now! I'm hoping to take a little photo shoot of Haylee & Miley this weekend for our Christmas cards, so we will see...I'm sure I'll be posting more then. Tonight we're going to hang out with my friend Tammy and her daughter Gracie (Haylee's buddy).

One more thing ~ thanks for your prayers for my sister! She got a part time job at Pier 1 Imports. I'm so happy for you Liz! Love ya!

Have a good day everyone!!
Mel

Tis the season!

I am so excited now about the holidays...at first I was a little depressed because you feel the pressure of buying gifts and making your house "just so" for company that is coming over and of course I'm worried about what BIG thing is going to happen this year at our place Christmas night...LOL! I guess you have to know every year since we've moved here is seems something happens. But praying that everything goes well and no one has to go to the ER this year and we all have an EXCELLENT season. ;)

I got myself in the mood of MAKING Christmas gifts again. I love this. I am SUCH a craft hog and I LOVVVVVE it! Anyone know what I mean? I LOVE to crochet, so every year my sister and my mom (with the exception of last year I think) got a hand made scarf. I just know two different crochet stitches, but I love sitting and watching tv by the fireplace and crocheting. :) It's relaxing. Tim was gone last night - in fact he's in San Fran right now with some clients and flies back later on today - but I stayed up crocheting last night until after MIDNIGHT and got a hat and half of a scarf done for a good friend. I'm really excited and hope she likes it, it really made the night fly by without Tim there. A few years ago I made child size ponchos and sold a few...they were fun to make. I made Haylee a couple of them too. :) I already made Haylee's baby pink fuzzy scarf this year (when I thought we were going to NY I figured she'd need it). She loves wearing it!

Anyway...sorry I didn't blog last night - Tim has the laptop! But I'm at work now, so I better get going.

I hope you all have a BLESSED day!
Love
Mel♥

PS ~ PLEASE pray for my sister Liz!! She had an interview the other day at Pier 1 Imports & really wants this job. I love Pier 1! Pray pray pray. It would be really good if she got this job. Thank you! Love you Liz!!

So thankful, never ungrateful

This morning at church we had a special speaker, unlike any other speaker I've ever witnessed or heard. It was INCREDIBLE and that word still doesn't seem to describe it. His name is Nick Vuljicic and he was born with NO limbs. You can check out his full story at www.lifewithoutlimbs.org but his testimony is an AMAZING one. He brought tears to my eyes a few different times for sure! How someone can go through the journey he's been through at the YOUNG age of 24 and stand so strong for the Lord God Almighty. I am so thankful I was there this morning. I was incredibly blessed. I love my church so so very much. I don't know what I'd do without it because it's a special sanctuary, sacred place I just love going to and hearing and learning more about Jesus. I love the worship leaders and the songs they lead every Sunday, goodness they just give me the goose bumps everytime!!!

Today is another great day thus far. We had church then we went to Target to Haylee could tell us what she wants for Christmas, then we got home and I cleaned downstairs while Miley slept, Haylee played and Tim did school work. It was rather peaceful and nice. :) Then I took Miley and Haylee for a walk and noticed we have a HUGE park just one block away from our place. Amazing! It's a HUGE park with a bridge and it's just lovely, I'll have to be sure to bring my camera next time we go!! I did however take some photos with my phone camera I will have to post later. ;)

Now I'm waiting for Haylee to clean her room & we're going to make my special snicker peanut butter cookies. They're just so scrumptious!!! And we're going to order a greasy pizza for dinner. :) Yay!! It's a beautiful FALL day and I think just watching Haylee play and Miley get loved on by the other kids at the park -- I just think of have GRATEFUL I am to be living where I'm living and be surrounded by such beautiful things - God's creations. I am so THANKFUL to have what I have and be where I'm at in life. Even though some might think - "you're an assistant in an accounting firm, what's so great about that?" - sure, I'm not WHERE I would like to be CAREER wise - and truth be told I am almost 28 and I STILL don't know WHERE I should be CAREER wise. But I feel like I'm in a place God needs me to be at the moment. A Mommy who is there for her daughter, a wife who is there for her husband, I'm happy with my job, I'm loving my new place, my church, the face I'm a "soccer mom"...and just enjoying all of the LITTLE things in LIFE.

I feel like sometimes we get caught up in WHERE we "should" be in life and forget the things that really matter most. Like family. Friends. Nature. GOD. I never want to forget or be ungrateful. I want to be SO thankful. :)

Yay it's Saturday!

Well today has been good so far! :) This morning Miley woke up at her usual 1am (Tim goes down & gives her...um...positive reinforcements, LOL!) and then she woke up at 4:30am, so I got up, let her out & put her back in her crate & went back to bed. Didn't wake up until 8:30am! Yay! That is sleeping in for me.

Then I gave Miley a bath after breakfast, Haylee a shower, Tim got into his shower, and I took a shower (good thing we have more than one bathroom!). After my shower I was getting my make up on & the door bell rang. Haylee was downstairs with Miley & I wasn't going to answer because really there are only a few options as to WHO could be ringing my bell on a Saturday morning. 1.) Solicitors - trying to sell me SOMETHING or 2.) A religious salesperson (as I call them) - trying to sell me on their beliefs. :) Now, don't get me WRONG, I am NOT anti-sharing my testimony with anyone or trying to show someone the way to salvation, but I just knew it was one or the other. It was #2. A Jehovah's Witness at that. I love the Mormons because usually there are two of them & they are VERY nice & respectful & you just tell them you are not interested and they move on. (I love you Brandie!!! No offense at all, you know me) But this guy....ha ha! He was a J.W. and would NOT STOP TALKING. I even told him I was just too busy and he kept going on and on. LOL! I wish I had some verses of strong scripture to come back & tell him -- but it was early, I was tired & a little irritated he wouldn't stop talking. ;)

After that we got ready & went to Target & Henry's. Today is Haylee's soccer game and we are the family in charge of bringing snacks & oranges. So we got the stuff to put all of that together for 11 girls. I'm excited because today we get Haylee's soccer pics back!! I hope they came out nice. I'll have to take a picture of a picture since I don't own a scanner. :) So look for them later on today on her blog.

Today has been SO nice weather wise, it's in the upper 60's today and sunny. Very nice, cool brisk but yet nice day. Tonight after soccer we're going out to dinner just us three - probably at Macaroni Grill & then we're going to go watch "Fred Claus". It should be a fun family thing to do! I'm excited about it, we haven't taken Haylee to the movies in a long time. If she scores a goal today we will also go get frozen yogurt - since that's the deal we hold with Haylee. :)

Alrighty...better get off of here & go get her uniform together. Have a GREAT weekend everyone! I will be posting pics of Haylee & Miley tonight on Haylee's blog, so be on the look out.

Love,
Melissa

Sorry

Sorry I haven't been on here as much lately - let me explain. :) It's this time of year I start feeling a little...hmmm...overwhelmed. I don't know why, it's not like I am saving the world, but I just feel like I want to do all of these things for the holidays & I'm planning how to do this & that & before you know it, a week has gone by and I haven't blogged. Sorry! But I still look at other blogs - sometimes I try to even comment! Ha ha!

After Halloween the holidays just fly by, isn't it a little depressing? I mean stores start selling Christmas things around October! It's horrible! It makes me feel rushed and ask Tim...I hate feeling rushed into anything. I'm a creature of habit. ;) So I guess I get a little sad & feel like I need to hurry & plan things. :) It's all good...just might not be around as much as usual. But after the holidays, watch out! Hee hee.

I'm kind of trying to figure out a daily routine also with having this new puppy. She likes to yelp and cry and bark (and it's loud, you wouldn't think but she is!!) - she does this at 1am and 5am. It is a bit annoying. She sleeps downstairs in her crate because she cannot be trusted to roam the house by herself. If she's supervised she doesn't go potty on the floor. I do go down at 5am, take her out and bring her up with me and she usually falls back asleep. She has to be under supervision at all times...sometimes it feels like I have a 2nd child. LOL! I know that just a few more months of this and she will be golden, but for now I'm tired. Yesterday I almost regretted getting a puppy...but then I looked into her cute puppy eyes and I picked her up and kissed her and got mad at myself for thinking that. She's JUST a puppy...she has to learn, that's all.

Did I tell you guys that we are NOT going to New York for Thanksgiving now? I think I did. So now I think we're planning on going to my brother-in-law's place, although a baby is due around that time, so who knows what exactly will happen! :) We may end up at Marie Calendars for all I know, ha ha!! But either way, we'll be together and it'll be fun. Christmas we are planning to have dinner at our place (as we do every year since we moved here). It should be a lot of fun! A new place, a new puppy, a new baby (my niece)! Yay!!

Let's see, what else is going on...Haylee's last soccer game is Nov 17th. After her game we're going to have a pizza party for the girls and they get trophies. That should be fun! Haylee seemed to do OK with soccer this year, we're hoping next year she'll get more excited about it, she is REALLY good when she tries. She's a really fast runner (must be those long legs).

Ugh, I don't know what it is but I feel like I'm in a rut right now! Sorry I'm not so chirpy and inspirational today. I was hoping my GM would make me feel really great, but it didn't seem to apply too much to me this morning...but I think I will go back to read some of the GM's I didn't get to read in the past few weeks. :) I feel like I need some uplifting that's for sure!! I also need a date...Tim and I haven't gone out in a LONG time it feels!! So hopefully that'll happen this weekend also.

Have a good Thursday!
Melissa

Much better

Thanks for your kindness yesterday! Today was a much better day. :)

The morning went well & for lunch 3 of my friends from work came over to my house to see the new house & visit with Miley. Miley is doing GREAT! She now has a doggy crate (thanks Debbie!) and she sleeps in it at night & goes in it during the day while we're at work. I know it seems like a lot, but dogs just sleep while you're away anyhow. This way I KNOW she is safe from all electrical and things that may harm her. Plus I know she's not pooping all over my floor and chewing my furniture! ;)

She so far has not gone potty in her crate. She does however whine and cry at 1am, but we ignore her and she stops. :) Yay!

I do have an update for Haylee's blog with pictures...I've just been busy and I'm trying to work out and actually cook dinner each night! Go me! :)

I started this dvd work out program called Boot Camp by Billy Blanks. It's an hour session and today I could only get through 20 mins of it! I haven't worked out in FOREVER and wow, it just kicks my butt I'll tell you! But I'm DETERMINED to start working out again. I am SO SICK of flab. Besides that my friend Mindy has inspired me. :) I weigh about 132 right now and would like to maybe lose SOME of that, more importantly though just get fit and firm. I'm otherwise happy with my frame.

Anyway...so that's about all that is on my mind today. Oh and one more thing I got an email from my sister Liz tonight. Can you all just please keep praying for her too? I know she really needs it & I don't know if she wants me going into details but God knows her situation and that's really all that matters. Thank you!!

Love,
Mel
PS. my goal for tomorrow night is to post pictures on Haylee's blog.

Ughhh Monday

Do you ever just have one of those Mondays? The kind where you just FEEL something is not right & once it begins you want to go home & start over? :) That is my day today!

I guess looking back I could say I've had worse, but it's been a crazy one to say the LEAST. I think I slept fine, with the exception of Miley crying at 4am because we are keeping her in the guest bathroom downstairs until she's house trained fully. She slept fine all night & wanted to play at 4am. So I got her up, took her potty & she laid down with me until 6am.

Then Haylee woke up with a tummy ache (she said). So I gave her some medicine for that. I hope she's not getting sick, she's sitting here pouting because she doesn't want to eat what I'm making for dinner. :P

I messed up by not confirming a lunch with one of my partners clients & he didn't show up & I thought he would be SO furious with me because he didn't sound happy on the phone. :( But I later found out (later on in the day) that the guy did eventually show up, whew. I wish I would've known it sooner because I was sure STRESSED out about it all day. Putting myself down. I felt "out of it" after that too and kept making small mistakes. Ugh. Those types of days make me feel so dumb! Know what I mean???

I thought I'd call a good friend who I haven't talked to in almost THREE WEEKS (I'm a bad friend!!!!) - but we've all just been busy! Well I said hello and she said hi and then BURST into tears. :( She has had health problems & they've just been going down hill the past few weeks. She had to have some sort of major surgery on her back & she's been taking narcotics for the pain & she's been hallucenating & depressed and everything. She has a daughter Haylee's age (remember Gracie?) - and she's just had Gracie watching tv all day long and she's feeling really guilty and upset with herself. I feel horrible for her - I felt horrible for not calling her sooner...I don't know why I didn't. :( So of course I extended my hand, I'm going to take Gracie this week sometime & we'll have a picnic at the park or I'll bring some food over to Tammy's. She isn't cooking, cleaning or anything. She cannot even take care of her horse - so I wish the horse knew me better and I'd clean her stall and feed her, but I don't. Can you please pray for Tammy? I feel helpless, my friend has never cried like that before, she really scared me. Pray for her pain, pray for her to heal & get better so she can get off of these drugs and take care of her family as she knows how.

I really hope tomorrow is a MUCH better day for us all!!

On a BRIGHTER note -- Miley is doing very well! I don't think she seems too young to be away from her mom. She has been eating the organic puppy food, I have to soak it for her each day, twice a day. We just got a crate from my friend tonight, so she'll be crate training from now on. We left her in the bathroom today & she only peed (and peed and peed so much she peed through her pad!) on the pad. :) Then I let her outside and she peed and poo'd outside! Yay! She's been pooping outside for the past five times or so. Yay!! Good girl Miley!

If you got this far, thank you for reading - - please say a prayer for us tonight. Devil's been trying to get us down, but we'll be just fine! I think I'll read Haylee some Bible bedtime stories...they make us all feel better. :)

Love,
Mel

So far, so good

Just wanted to update a little bit on here -- sorry I haven't been keeping up as good as I usually do. I've been busy with the holidays now approaching, can you even BELIEVE it is NOVEMBER already???

Today we went to church & then had brunch at El Torito, it was delicious as usual. :) Now we're at home playing with Miley & I'm going to clean the whole upstairs (bedrooms/bathrooms) & then clean out my car & hopefully go through all of our Christmas boxes to see what decor we may need. I'm excited about that!! It's always fun. ;)

Miley did REALLY good last night. You wouldn't think we took her away from her mommy too young. She cries sometimes, but even if she's left alone, she is fine. She likes being around us, but is fine on her own. She slept by Tim the whole night. Wanted to play a few times (she sat on my head & chewed on my hair). Tim put the pee pad upstairs in case she needed it & she woke up at 3am whimpering so he put her on it & she peed! :) Such a good girl!!

She's been peeing on her pee pad through out the day - while we were gone I saw a new pee spot on it. Hasn't done the other thing just yet, but then again she hasn't really eaten much. She doesn't eat hard puppy food so I'm having to soak it in milk, mush it up & then she eats it. ;) It took me a few times and different ways of preparing her food to see which way works best for her.

Anyway...better get off of here -- I'll post more pics throughout the week! Have a good Sunday everyone!

Introducing...

Miley!

this is the newest member of our FAMILY. :)
this is our surprise!
tim found miniature schnauzers in an online ad & they were are really GOOD price - haylee's always WANTED a puppy...we finally have a house/room for an animal...so we decided to pick her up TODAY! She is only 6 weeks old...I know a little young to be away from her mommy - but the lady that sold her to us said her vet said it would be fine (plus she lives almost an hour away so we didn't want to have to make another trip back). So far, so good -- she's training pad (by the back door) training and she's peed twice BESIDE the pad. ;) We understand she is still very young, but we think she's perfect & she will do just FINE. :)

She really loves us & is fine being all by herself sleeping or when she's awake she follows Haylee because Haylee likes to baby & play with her!

Here are some pics:

Haylee's 1st puppy!

She named her Miley after the show Hannah Montanna :)

Love at first sight!

Haylee babying her baby!

The lady we bought her from put this pink bow around her neck - this is what she did when we first got her out of the car :) She laid down in the garage.
